Scubacam Ltd

Who are we?

Scubacam was set up by John Johnson in 1986, starting the product range with a yellow latex soft housing for the then new broadcast Betacams. Over the ensuing years the range developed to cover most popular video cameras and 16mm and 35mm film cameras. When John decided to retire to Ireland in 2004, he sold the business to Joe Dunton. This is where Mark was first introduced to the manufacture of the housings: he offered to run it for Joe. In April 2006 Mark and Paula bought Scubacam from Joe and have been happily running the business ever since.

What do we do?

The Scubacam range of underwater housings accommodate video cameras from PD 150 and HDV, through the Betacam range to the new HD cameras; and film cameras from the SRIII and Aaton 16mm, through the Arri 235 to the Arri 435 cameras. The housings are manufactured from anodised aluminium frameworks supporting a black polyurethene housing with clear PVC windows for viewing camera controls and displays. The camera is inserted into the housing through a military specification dry suit zip, and the housing rendered waterproof by closing the zip. The housings are rated watertight to a depth of four meters.

We also supply a range of raincovers, details of which can be found on this website.
